Install wood-grain laminates in any room, especially those high traffic areas. However, they cannot be used in bathrooms (see: Ceramic Tile).

FYI:  Wood-grain laminates are available in real wood or wood look-a-likes.  They can be installed over concrete, plywood, and even ceramic tile.  All of these products are installed in a "floating" manner, meaning they are not glued or nailed to the sub-floor.  These products are especially helpful if an “acoustically insulated” floor is required by your condominium association. Talk to your salesperson about "floating" installations as well as high rise building sound code compliance.
